Personal growth with a disability

Our family has been an active member of Stützpunkt Inntal e.V. since 2017. The diversity and unique characteristics of the association's members—with or without disabilities—are the special ingredients that make our activities so varied. We climb, hike, scale mountains, and spend a lot of time together on vacation trips, weekend getaways, and day trips. What makes it special is that each person contributes as they can and is accepted for who they are.

Over the years, the association has helped many children and young people grow up. However, this step is often associated with frustration and disappointment for people with disabilities. In our performance-oriented society, personal strengths all too often fall by the wayside as soon as a physical, mental, or psychological limitation becomes apparent. Since suitable jobs in the primary labor market are in short supply, the association has put a long-held vision into practice and, since the end of 2022, has been offering young people with disabilities an additional alternative to sheltered workshops: the Basislager (base camp) - a professional, sustainable climbing hall that offers space for individual characteristics, where people with and without disabilities can meet, spend their free time together, and work together.
